About the Program
Halloween Haunts was originally created for our two radio stations 89.5 WHRV-FM and 90.3WHRO-FM, for Halloween 2006. The response was overwhelming, not only from the listeners but from people who downloaded the pod cast off of iTunes. Halloween Haunts became the #3 download in the nation for the Halloween season. In January 2007, the radio drama was entered into the "Telly" awards and won a Bronze Telly for both radio stations! The work was submitted into the category of sound design and effects, and thanks to the fantastic talents of WHRO audio engineer Al Sykes the program was destined to become a winner.
Halloween Haunts are stories based on ghostly legends and lore of Hampton Roads, Virginia. I have always had a fascination with ghosts and unexplained incidents. Now I am not saying that I "do" or "don't" believe in ghosts, but I haven't met a person yet who hasn't had something weird or unexplained happen at some point in his/her life.
People are fascinated with the unknown. I took that idea and combined it with researching our local history and the chilling tales that have been passed down through generations and continue to live on. I hope you enjoy the television special which debuts on October 24th at 8pm on WHRO-TV 15 and WHRO HD 15.1.
Thank you for listening and thank you for watching, but most importantly, thank you for your support.
Happy Haunting,
Michelle Gabriele- Harrell,
